After a brief stint on the sports desk of the Albuquerque Journal, I taught developmental English at CNM in Albuquerque for 20 years and then grade 7-10 English Language Arts at Escalante Mid-High in Tierra Amarilla for two years. Now, I'm retired but keeping busy with our local volunteer fire department in the far northern reaches of Rio Arriba County.

I just heard this from Liz Farr, class of '81:

"I just found out that Cindy Tech passed away. Her sister, Carol Litherland, was looking for a way to reach out to her friends from LAHS, so I thought you might be a logical path.
Cindy had had cancer and was under great stress from a divorce and losing her job. Apparently the stress caused multiple organ failure. Her mom found her on February 14 but she'd been gone for at least a few days.
Cindy's mom and Carol are planning a memorial, maybe in May. I can serve as a conduit for information.
Cindy was a very proud woman, and will be missed greatly. She had a 21-year-old daughter Linda."

I knew Cindy primarily through Girl Scouts. I remember her as charming, optimistic, and outdoorsy. The world is a lesser place without her in it.
