In Memory

Dan Milligan

Daniel Farrell Milligan

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel Farrell Milligan, 49, of Los Alamos. Dan died peacefully on June 24, 2011 surrounded by family and friends at New Mexico Heart Hospital in Albuquerque, following a long illness.  Dan was born on March 20, 1962 in Freemont, Neb. to Donald F. and Sally E. Milligan.  He married Thersea Wright on Dec. 18, 1994 in Las Cruces, N.M.  He received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from New Mexico State University.

He was so proud to be a nurse and enjoyed helping as many people as possible.  He was a wonderful husband and father to his three children, teaching, encouraging and always proud of their accomplishments. The example he taught; loving, respecting and helping others has enriched all of our lives more than words can express.

Dan enjoyed shooting at the rifle range and playing with his children.  He was an outdoorsman that had a zeal for life.  He loved watching auto racing and always could tell you the latest statistics on the circuit.  He had a great sense of humor and always saw the glass as half full.

He is survived by his parents, Donald and Sally Milligan; wife, Theresa Milligan; children, Amanda, Dustin and Katie-Lynn Milligan; siblings, Michael Milligan, Tim Milligan, Kelly Milligan, and Christy Zahn.  As well as his uncle and aunt Bob and Anna Lee Brizendine, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Memorial will be at 11 a.m. July 15  at White Rock Baptist Church.  In lieu of flowers, please consider becoming an organ donor.

Dan was one of my best friends in high school and my Mom always looked at him as another son.

Dan and I always loved fishing at the Los Alamos reservoir and going exploring up in the mountains.

Playing football and chopping wood with Danny will always be great memories for me. I miss him.
